that brief touch melted so much anxiety..
I had recently come out of bandages after having an accident that mutilated one of my hands. I was feeling very self conscious about the scars.
On opening day for staff at school, a male colleague came over and sat down next to me. He asked how I was doing and placed his hand on my scars.
The warmth of that brief touch melted so much anxiety that I felt it all through my body. It only lasted a few seconds, but I remember it 25 years later.

PS: This story and the other 2 stories I entered are all real stories and it was helpful to recall them, and to remember that whether it is massage or other warm touch, it can be very healing.
Yesterday I met an artist at an art show. Her art was beautiful, but her right hand had a visible tremor. After we chatted a while, I put my hand on top of hers and held it gently while I asked how she worked with this. Out came an amazing story of her brain injury from medication, and 19 years of struggle to paint. She uses her fingers to paint in pastels. Beautiful, and inspiring work!
I'm glad you revived my appreciation of the healing touch!
Thank you for this gift.
Love to you and yours,
Julie
